March usually brings wonderful weather perfect for exploring the outdoors. Arizona offers hikes for all levels:
*Thunderbird Conservation Park - Joe’s go-to spot.
*Papago Park - Double Butte Loop and Hole-in-the-Rock Trail are easy and some of the best Valley sunset views.
*Tom’s Thumb Trail (McDowell Mountains) - A standout, especially when the wildflowers bloom.
*Lookout Mountain - The Summit Trail is more challenging and very popular.
If you head outdoors, don’t forget water and sunscreen!
Cave Creek
It’s a quirky western town where cowboys, motorcyclists, and bicyclists all cross paths. Just north of Scottsdale and is filled with small shops, art galleries, and memorable eateries - including Indian Village, known for its mouth-watering Indian Fry Bread.
Arizona Science Center
A hands-on, immersive experience blending science, creativity, and fun for all ages. Bonus: there’s air conditioning!
*Day Trip Option: Williams, AZ & Bearizona Wildlife Park*
Williams is a charming Route 66 town with Americana-style shops and restaurants, plus the Grand Canyon Railway. The Grand Canyon itself is only about an hour to the north.
Bearizona is a unique wildlife park featuring bears, wolves, bison, elk, and more -over half of them rescues. Explore by car, on foot, or aboard the shuttle bus.
*Day Trip Option: Sedona
With red-rock buttes, steep canyon walls, and pine forests, Sedona is simply breathtaking. Red Rock State Park offers countless trailheads for hiking, picnicking, and bird-watching.
